About FLC

Freedom Learning Center is a ministerial extension of AMP Ministries. We serve children ages 3-12. We exist to support homeschool families who are pro-freedom and would like to give their children enrichment classes and socialization within a setting that mixes ages, abilities and neurodiversity. AMP Ministries launched Freedom Learning Center because it saw a few needs. Many parents have noticed their children are not learning adequately in public or private schools and have opted to homeschool them. FLC provides a small class size with individual attention, and students are flourishing. Another need was spiritual. Jesus commanded all of us to fulfill The Great Commission. At FLC, the gospel is -shared and children are discipled. We use our God-given freedom to make our own choices, choose our own curriculum and maintain our vision.

About Me
My name is Heather and I’m from San Antonio, Texas and I’ll always be a true Texan even though I’ve lived in Virginia for nearly 20 years.  I graduated from Hardin-Simmons University with a BBS in Interdisciplinary Studies, and a minor in Bilingual Education.  I taught grades K-5th at the same title 1 school for 19 years. I’m married to Steven Able and we have 3 precious children: Micah, Caleb and India.  I love teaching, discipling children, and encouraging them to desire & grow their giftings. Being there as a support system to help families navigate parenthood is also one of my heart’s desires. I started Freedom Learning Center out of a desire to fulfill the Great Commission and provide a place where students are free to learn at their own pace, in a variety of modalities, inside or outside, and discover how God and the Bible are entwined with our education.

AMP Ministries is a lawfully formed Ministry, providing private early childhood education as well as primary and secondary educational services and any other services as  authorized by the Association Articles and Bylaws to its members. The membership agreement, which includes a waiver, explains this relationship and the rights, benefits and responsibilities associated with membership.
